What Is a Business Memory, in One Plain Sentence?
A business memory is a private record of what your business agreed, paid, promised and decided, kept on your own computer as plain text. One sentence, read part by part.
One sentence, and every word in it has a job. Here it is first. Then each part, in plain words, so you know exactly what you would be getting.
What is a business memory, in one sentence?
A business memory is a private record of everything your business knows — what was agreed, paid, promised and decided — kept on your own computer as plain text files any AI can read, so you can ask anything and get the answer with the exact reference behind it.

That is the whole answer.
Every part of that sentence has a job. Four kinds of facts. One place they live. One kind of file. And one promise about every answer you get back.
It is the same sentence, word for word, that opens our longer page, What is a business memory? We say it the same way every time, on purpose.
Why one sentence, and why always the same one?
Because a definition that changes every time somebody says it is not a definition.
Most new words get explained a little differently by every person who uses them. Then nobody knows what the word means. Not the customer, not Google, and not the AI tools people now ask first.
So we wrote it once. And we keep it.
What does each part of the sentence mean?
Take it apart, one piece at a time.
"A private record." A record, not a chat and not a pile of loose notes. Private means it stays with you. In the words of our own product page: "No vendor cloud holds your record, you have no account on our servers, and there is no copy of your business on a machine you do not own."
"Of everything your business knows — what was agreed, paid, promised and decided." Four piles. The deal. The money in and out. The promise you made. The call you made. These are the four things a customer, a partner or your accountant will one day ask you to show them.
"Kept on your own computer." Not on ours. And here is the honest part: when you ask a question, the product page says it straight — "the AI you chose processes what it needs to answer it." The record stays home. The AI you picked reads what it needs for that one question.
"As plain text files." The simplest kind of file there is: plain text, just letters, numbers and spaces, with no special app needed to open it. You are not locked inside anybody's software, including ours.
"Any AI can read." ChatGPT today. Something else next year. Your record does not care which one you pick.
"So you can ask anything and get the answer with the exact reference behind it." This is the part that pays. You ask in plain words. As our product page puts it, "Every answer points at the document, email or record it came from." You open that file and read it yourself. You do not have to believe a smooth sentence.
What is a business memory NOT?
It is not chat memory. ChatGPT memory remembers YOU — how you like your answers and bits of your past chats. A business memory remembers the business. We put the two side by side here.
It is not an email reply helper. A reply helper writes the next email. A business memory keeps the record that email should come from.
And it is not a second brain. A second brain is one person's notes, kept up by one person. A business memory is the record of the whole business, and everyone you invite to a shared vault works from the same one. More on that in why the best second brain apps are NOT a business memory.
Why does a business need one now?
Because AI is only as good as what it can read.
Our product page opens with one line: "AI knows the internet, not your company." Ask an AI about your own customer when it has nothing of yours to read, and it guesses, or it tells you it cannot know.
A business memory is not a smarter AI. It is the record your AI was missing.
So I'm committed to saying it the same way every time — one sentence, word for word — until "business memory" means one thing to everyone who hears it.
Your AI already knows the internet. Your business memory knows YOUR business.
Records were never meant for storage. Give your business a memory.

Can any AI read a business memory?
Yes. It is kept as plain text, the simplest kind of file there is, so any AI tool you choose can read it. You are not locked to one tool.
How is a business memory different from ChatGPT memory?
ChatGPT memory remembers you — how you like your answers and bits of your past chats. A business memory keeps the record of the business itself — deals, payments, promises and decisions — and shows the file behind every answer.
